Digital Technologies - Project Based Learning

computer At Burnside High School students have the opportunity to create digital projects of their choice by taking the Digital Teachnologies Project Based Learining subject. Throughout the year these students reasearch planning and development methods, before creating an outcome for real stakeholders.

Students have access to many great resources to create their projects such as Industry Speakers, computer rooms, and this webserver to host their project.
What sort of projects do students do?

Students can choose any digital based project they want, as long as they learn along the way and earn NCEA credits. The difficulty is determined by the students, they can create a static website or a fully fledged application.

How do students get into the subject

If a student demonstrates to the HOD that they would benefit from a year long self-managed project more than a traditional learning environment where they would be moving faster than the rest of the class they may be allowed into the subject.
